Christmas Scavenger Hunt for Kids: Clue Ideas, Setup & Tips
Plan a Christmas scavenger hunt for kids: how a clue trail works, clue ideas by age, hiding spots, treasure ideas and tips for home or the classroom.

Three ready-to-play treasure hunts with 30 clue cards for ages 4–10, plus checklists, a treasure map, certificates and tokens.
A treasure hunt turns an ordinary afternoon into an adventure. This Christmas scavenger hunt printable gives you three complete clue trails with 30 clue cards, so kids from ages 4 to 10 can follow the clues around the house or classroom to a treasure you hide at the end.
Each game has 10 clue cards. Card 1 goes to the players, and every other card is hidden where the clue before it points. The hiding checklists tell grown-ups exactly where each card goes, so setup takes only a few minutes.
The Parent & Teacher Guide covers the rules, preparation, safe hiding places at home and at school, team and cooperative play, game variations, treasure ideas and printing tips, with setup charts for all three hunts in one place.
Every PDF comes in US Letter (8.5 × 11 in) and A4, in full color, with ink-saver black and white copies of PDFs 1–4. Print at 100% or “Actual size”, and use card stock if you want the clue cards to last for next year. Our guide on how to print digital downloads covers paper and print settings.
The treasure isn’t included: you choose the prize. Looking for a free starter? Try our free indoor scavenger hunt.
Ages 4 to 10. The Picture Hunt is for ages 4–6 and uses big pictures with very few words. The Rhyming Hunt is for ages 7–10. The Classroom Hunt is for ages 5–10 and adds a picture hint to every riddle, so pre-readers can join in with an adult reading aloud.
Give card 1 to the players. Every other card is hidden at the answer to the card before it, so each clue leads to the next one. The last card leads to the treasure. The hiding checklist tells you where each card goes, in order.
No. This is a printable game, so you choose and prepare the treasure yourself. The Final Treasure Cards, certificates and reward tokens in the Bonus Pack make a nice finish, and the Parent & Teacher Guide has treasure ideas.
